2020 Roundup with Jacob Colon

Jacob Colon has been a stand out artist this year as he has released several storming releases with each one becoming stronger and stronger. Having been receiving the recognition he deserves for his talent for music, Jacob has also branched out with his imprint ‘Made To Move’ which also became a successful radio show platform back in the summer. We caught up with Jacob to discuss how he has felt this year has gone for him as an artist and what we can expect in 2021.

First off, how has this year been for you considering the circumstances?

It’s been a rough year in regards to the industry. Personally, I have been able to self-reflect and spend more time in the studio than I usually do. This has given me the opportunity to expand my mind and become better at my craft. I try to keep a positive mindset and look at how I can use this time productively until things reopen.

What has been your highlight of 2020?

I teamed up with Aravaza DJ agency and will be moving forward with them as a partnership. I will be working with Aravaza’s roster of vocalists to create music and play at festival venues around the world. In a short time, we’ve been able to complete projects with singers like Rowetta, Jeff Stephan, and others.

Which release of yours has been your favourite this year?

Magic or Mystery feat Jeff Stephan. Check it out and let me know what you think.

How do you feel your artistry has developed over 2020?

With the help of some new equipment, I’ve been able to develop new sounds throughout my productions. Since I’ve been in the studio more, I’ve really had the time to tweak different things and learn tricks to help enhance my sound.

Have you achieved the goals you set out to do in 2020?

Yes, and more. I’ve launched my own label, radio show, and partnered with amazing people around the world. I didn’t think of these things at the beginning of this year. Stay up to date with my moves 2021.

Which other artist has been an inspiration to you this year?

I wouldn’t say any particular artist. I’ve had great people around me pushing me to be better. It’s the energy I’ve been receiving from great people that are continuing to inspire me.

What are your resolutions for 2021?

I want to say, but I also don’t want to give away some big news later.

Where would you like to see your career this time next year?

I would like to see my Made to Move imprint grow and become a respectable name in the music industry.

Do you have any big plans in the pipeline that we can get excited about?

Yes, and I hope to see that it happens safely. I don’t want to give away what some of those plans are just yet.

Finally, if you could give one word, to sum up, your 2020, what would it be and why?

Motivated. I’ve been really focused in the studio and I’m extremely excited to come out the shell and release great music. I’ve been working with some incredible talent and can’t wait to get the ball rolling again.
