Aside from music with Joe Hawes

UK DJ and producer Joe Hawes originates from the quiet coastal town of Torquay, but there is certainly nothing quiet about Joe’s talents and skills. Having taken his first steps towards a music career at the age of 10 after picking up his very first set of drumsticks, Joe went on to play in Rock and Indie bands before finally discovering his love for dance music, Future House in particular. Joe has released incredible music such as his ‘Shakin’ EP on Hungry Koala Records and multiple stand-out remixes that have garnered thousands of streams and downloads and have been released through his very own imprint ‘Coffee House Records’. We caught up with Joe to find out what he gets up to outside of creating music.

What other hobbies do you usually get up to or would like to try?

There isn’t really anything I would class as a regular hobby that isn’t related to music if I’m honest! I used to Skateboard a lot and compete when I was a lot younger, but now my life is pretty much all music!

Where is your favourite place to go for food?

This is a tough one! If its something quick and casual I do love Wagamama. If it’s more of an evening meal, then I can never say no to an Italian!

What can always put you in a good mood no matter what?

Playing Mario Kart on the Switch!

Do you have a favourite sports team? If so, who?

I’m incredibly bad when it comes to following sports, the only team I ever watch play really is England during the Euro or World cup Football!

How would you describe your perfect weekend?

A weekend away in the middle of nowhere, in a lodge, by a lake, with a bunch of mates would certainly be up there!

If could invite x3 people to dinner, dead or alive, who would they be and why? Tony Robbins, Avicii & Will Smith. I feel all 3 of them would have some important life lessons they could share.

If you could start over, what career would you love to have? (other than music)

I would love to be a film actor. It’s always interested me!

Who would you love to trade lives with for a day?

It’s got to be Dan Bilzerian! Who wouldn’t like to live his life for one day?!

Do you have any weird traditions or superstitions?

I think the only real tradition I have is, whenever I’m playing the same night as other people I have played with before, we tend to find “our drink” and I make it a tradition whenever we play on the same line up we a few of those before we play.

Lastly, what one thing would you take with you to a desert island?

A football and name it Wilson.
