2020 Roundup with Ken Bauer
Ken Bauer is an artist with unmistakable talent and instantly recognisable sound. Having spent 2020 transitioning to Future House, his repertoire has been outstanding with releases such as ‘Lone’, ‘Until You Speak’, and ‘Pill Of Love’ which have all reached critical acclaim. We sat down with Ken Bauer to find out more about his 2020.
First off, how has this year been for you considering the circumstances?
Strange and unreal. I really hope that we will resolve this once and for all during next year.
What has been your highlight of 2020?
My highlight of 2020 was that I managed to reach 100.000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
Which release of yours has been your favourite this year?
My personal favourite was “Lone” that I released on Future House Cloud. It was received very well and reached 300,000 streams in just a few weeks.
How do you feel your artistry has developed over 2020?
A lot. I have been getting to know several talented people over the past year, including Olly James who is now acting as one of my mentors and people I go to for advice and feedback on my tracks.
Have you achieved the goals you set out to do in 2020?
No. But I think it goes without saying that the current circumstances have made a lot of people adjust their goals for 2020.
Which other artist has been an inspiration to you this year?
My biggest inspiration that will influence my upcoming tracks in 2021 has been Olly James with his Rave Room style and David Guetta & Morten with their Future Rave movement. I am currently transitioning to the Future Rave style myself and have a few releases coming up in this style next year.
What are your resolutions for 2021?
Never take anything for granted and start exercising more.
Where would you like to see your career this time next year?
Hopefully, I have a lot of Future Rave tracks under my belt and a steady listener base on Spotify.
Do you have any big plans in the pipeline that we can get excited about?
I have a couple of releases scheduled on 2-Dutch that I am really excited about.
Finally, if you could give one word, to sum up, your 2020, what would it be and why?
Hard but optimistic. Hard, because the current circumstances have been hard for everyone. Optimistic because mankind has proven that we can all come together and solve most challenges we are facing.
