Check Out TYGRBYT’s New Release ‘Mezcal’

POPGANG boss TYGRBYT returns for the imminent release of his second single ‘Mezcal’ which is coming to us all via his own imprint – a collective of talent and events that are making a name on the west coast of America and beyond online.

‘Mezcal’ is slick and groovy House workout that is built up around a foundation of tightly constructed drum tracks that keep a hyperactive rhythm section over a thumping kick drum which acts as a counterweight to the energetic bassline and rapid fire vocal manipulations that are scattered over the whole production. TYGRBYT shows off an advanced level of production prowess for the genre with rapid-fire FX manipulations and fills which light up the wonky synths and melodic elements which whip and warp with filter modulations and an array of movement. The vocals are unapologetically raunchy and nod back to classic dance styles of the 90s and 00s where these kinds of samples found prominence. The whole production oozes with precision and shows off the technical understanding of a Producer that doesn’t only know how his tools work – but knows how to really get them to sing.

With more than ten years of working up the ranks in SF’s music industry, Chris navigated a journey through roles as a Talent Buyer, Label Director, Marketing Director and more, but flash-forward to today it’s his own music and DJ shows that are front and centre. In 2019 POPGANG’s other co-founder Jordan Deherrera launched a new monthly party called Cyber Rodeo with Kawasaki from Another Party Fam, which is basically a rave with Cowboy costumes. TYGRBYT was quickly added as one of the residents, providing a home-base for the label and collective to share their new sounds.

A release party for “Mezcal” was scheduled for March 13th at Audio SF with Dirtybird’s GAWP headlining (and the first Cyber Rodeo at the famed SF night club) however due to concerns over Coronavirus, the party was postponed indefinitely. “We’re sad to have to cancel, but there’s nothing more important than the health of the fans and staff. Hopefully we can announce the reschedule soon. Until then, we’ll be locked in the studio. Not the worst place to be.”

The virus might be shutting down events for the near future, but the pipeline of awesome new music continues and with the likes of TYGRBYT and his fellow Producers inevitably upping the studio time in the weeks ahead, it’s this calibre of shiny new dance music that we’re all going to get to enjoy, even if it is temporarily from home rather than on the dancefloor for now.
